What every Snail Mailer needs... A GREAT Pen!!

So, I think I am in love. Well, maybe really really as close to being in love with a pen as a person can get.

I was off shopping for nifty odds and ends, and while out looking, I run into the Books a Million store. I don't normally find a lot of pen pal stuff there, But it does hold a lot of goodies for my Drawing desires. So while in there roaming the aisles. I see this Pen.  >>>>


I begin to look at them and see that the name is called THE SEVEN YEAR PEN. I have to look, It seems pretty interesting. I pick up, I find one with a skull and cross bones ( Right Up my Alley) and then flip it over to see it says (( NEEDS COFFEE)) "PERFECT" a little voice in my head screams out ! LOL It is now in my hand. I must have this pen.


With a little more reading, It states on the package that the pen is Swiss made, with a Jumbo ink supply and a 7 year life span. It also claims that 7 year life span covers writing with it for 2 meters a day for 7 years. With the trying to make the sell, They added a bit of knowledge to the package that states (( WORLDWIDE, 100 MILLION PENS ARE DISCARDED EVERY DAY)) YIKES)) I have to say, I had never given a thought to how many ink pens are wasted a day. I know I have tossed my fair share of them. The last push for sells, They also let the buyer know that a portion of the purchase price will be donated to environmental causes. And, well, I like that. So, I am the proud new owner of a 7 year pen. and ( grinning ) some pastel lined loose leaf paper. :O)

Now, Off to write some letters with my new Pen!

A Movie for Snail Mailers / Mary and Max

                                                                                                                                                                         


I just finished up this movie. I have to admit that there were some amazing moments in it. It is seldom that we see a really touching movie about the power or the powers in letters. I haven't found to many books for that either to think about it. I happened upon this clay mation film by a lucky accident I suppose. Once watched, laughs over, some tears dried. I really thought I should let others know about this film. It is said that it is based on a true story of a pen pal friendship that lasts over 2 decades. With two very different but quite human persons in it. I think any human being could and can relate to a few of the emotions and thoughts the characters go through. I don't want to send out spoilers on this so I will quit typing about it..LOL

I will say tho' It isn't rated, and even though clay mation, I would say a common sence age for this film is maybe 13 and above. Even thought one character is only 8 to begin. It is rather dark and hard for a young person to follow.

Anyway, If anyone see's it. Let me know what you think..

Wow... I find this pretty wild..hahaha

So, I have been all over FB and Blogger looking at all the new sites/groups dedicated to letter writting. It is soooo odd to me to actually get online to make a new snail mail pal. I suppose with technology, everything changes.
What I have to admit to really loving is the few people and families who are getting into letter writting challanges. I keep thinking that in time I would also like to do this, but we all know that I suck terribly at staying online and ONTIME to do anything to completion. Hahahaha.
I have answered one blogspot blog ( Bev) and sent out a letter and envie to her, and just tonight I have gotten a second letter and envie ready for two sisters trying to get 365 letters in 365 days. I think that is just wicked. I wish them all the best of luck. So with my tiny blog and mail pile here at home, I will live via their blogs and mailboxes, and just do mine as they come..hahaha

Envelopes....

I have done the snail mail thing on and off, since I was 12 years old. My first pen pal was a young girl in France, and we met Via the old TV show ( The Big Blue Marble ) Oh how I loved that show. We were friends and wrote faithfully until we were probably 15 years old. I met more along the way, Through FB's ( Friendship Books ) and Most excellent Magazines like ( Fangoria ) which had a spot in the back for Horror Film Pen Pals. IT ROCKED!

Life got very hectic and out of place about 5 years ago, and I stopped Pen Paling pretty much. We we're caring for an aging parent and extra time was just not anywhere to be found. Pleasent moments of sitting down and writting a letter were a thing of the past.

During that time I turned to Blogging on Yahoo's 360 and Journaling here at home. I love to draw while I journal, Thoughts come to light as words or images and it served a purpose for the time being.

Now I want to get back into snail mailing on the regular and am looking for new Pals. I have also found that I am TOTALLY addicted to Envelope Art.. I do draw most of mine, or clip papers here and there, But I have found I really am pleased to sit down and complete and envelope for a person before I ever write the letter. HAhahaha..

So, I have revamped my little part of the cyber world here to go about my mailing and envelope fetish..haha..
I am sure from time to time, I will go on a rant about some insensative person I have to deal with, But hopefully not to often..haha
